Permis de sejour

Today I received an email from my lawyer with an opening line that goes like this : "For a change some good news for you..." anyway the good news he was talking about was the approval for my application for the extension of my residence permit or as they call here my Permis de sejour. It took the Federal Migrations Office, which is in Berne, almost three months to process my application. Within this time period I was left with no other choice but to stay put in Switzerland for the simple reason that the moment I cross the border - say for example I go visit Avi and Aviva who are living in Divonne les bains - I will not be permitted by the border police to enter back through the same border passing I took on the way out, even if I show them a letter attesting that my Permis de sejour is still being processed. Anyway living outside one's own country can be both an exercise of diplomacy, anger control, and tolerance to a civilizedworld that is always saying something but doing the opposite. The same civilized world most of the times is more comfortable dealing with a card or a number than a human being.
